I don't know Lyon, but I do know the feeling of being strangely at home in a foreign place. Enjoy!

"For the first time since arriving in France last year, it really hits me: the vacation’s over. I’ve come home."... That happened to me after eight months in our new home in Portugal.

It's amazing how it can just strike you out of the blue!

That's quite a Blablacar story. Had Antonio been rated on the site?

Yes, and he had good reviews. Despite the ... idiosyncrasies ... of the journey, he was extremely nice!

I like Blablacar and my daughters use it like nobody's business. I agree that it wouldn't fly in the USA though.

I have a trick for when I am stuck or feeling blocked – I go for a walk and I “zoom out”. I slow down and focus on my breath then I let my attention wander to the surrounding sights, sounds and smells. I try to release judgment and just notice. It’s like a mini vacation for my brain. Oh, and I also watch out for traffic!

That's a good practice even when you're not stuck! I used to do that every morning while walking beside the Animas River in Durango.

Your description of the streets of Lyon are very vivid and colourful; I can understand why you feel that you have come home. It seems a beautiful place.

Me, I'm stuck in North Cyprus, where it is 36 degrees C and some days up to 42. I long for green pastures, rivers and lakes.

Home for me is a more verdant place than this Summer dustbowl. I long for the Sun and rain of France in Summer and will one day get there.

I hope you're able to make it happen! Anything over 30 sounds pretty dang hot (and I was born in Texas!)

Although, I imagine the weather in Cyprus is downright dreamy when it's 5 degrees and rainy in France!
